Sound Velocity : Micro SVT&P
Sound Velocity : Micro SVT&P : Description The Micro SV&T offers time-of-flight sound velocity measurement with next generation, composite material sensors. On-board temperature and pressure sensors allow the user to map sound velocity by depth while verifying thermocline effects. The new materials sound velocity sensor composite materials eliminate sensor corrosion and path length changes due to vibration and temperature change, resulting in an extended in-calibration life and improved accuracy. Mechanically, the instrument has a small footprint.

Sound Velocity : Micro SVT&P : Sensor Information:
| Name: | Sound Velocity | | Manufacturer: | Applied Microsystems | | Type: | Time of flight - hi-tech composite materials | Model: | n/a | | Accuracy: | 0.05m/s; 0.03 m/s precision | | Range: | 1400 - 1600 m/s | | Response Time: | 47 microseconds | | Max. Frequency: | 25 Hz | | Maximum Depth(m): | 10000m | | Resolution: | 0.01m/s (displayed); 0.005 m/s (timing) | | Stability | n/a | | Location: | n/a | | Notes: | This new approach to sound velocity sensors utilizes high tech composites instead of traditional stainless steel invar rods. Path-length change due to corrosion and vibration is eliminated, resulting in longer calibrations and less maintenance. Zincs are not required.
Moreover, sensor length is only 3cm, resulting in increased ease of integration. Path-length variation due to temperature change is immediate, enabling more precise mapping of thermoclines
Like all AML sound velocity instruments, the Micro SV receives over 700 individual calibration points. Calibrations are not extrapolated to cover the entire operating range of the instrument. This distinction is important. Instruments with extrapolated calibrations may find themselves significantly out of spec at individual sound velocity speeds, while the instrument - as a whole - meets averaged accuracy requirements. |
