Oil Polution

Spill-Sentry™ is an integrated oil polution early warning system. The Spill-Sentry™ System contains two elements: 1) Spill detection buoys deployed in the field; and 2) A PC base station, running the Spill View application softwareOil Polution.

When a spill is detected, the Spill View software telephones response team members. A visual and audible alarm also goes off at the base station.

The benefits of our oil polution alert system include:

  • Total confidence that spills are reliably detected means fewer nasty surprises
Faster slick containment results in a significant reduction in clean-up costs
  • Earlier spill detection equals better environmental stewardship
  • Implementation of leading edge environmental technology generates positive press, image & brand
  • Peace-of-mind from using OHMSETT tested equipment

Oil PolutionApplied Microsystems' Spill-Sentry™ comprises of sensor buoy- deployed where oil would be detected - and a PC base station where data is processed. The system is extremely sensitive and able to detect as few as five microns of hydrocarbon-on-water. Spill-Sentry™ detection encompased all areas of oil polution. The array of detectable hydrocarbons is extensive and includes crude, gasoline, aviation fuel, diesel, bilge, and bunker. Spill-Sentry™ comes with built-in intelligence to minimize false-positives or false-negatives.

The buoys communicate with the base station via cable, radio, or satellite communication protocols. Each buoy sends sample data to the base station, where the data is analyzed to determine if a spill has occurred. The sample frequency is programmable by the user.

Deployment is easy and maintenance requirements light. The Spill-Sentry™ system includes the flexibility to add options like solar power, radio or satellite communication capabilities, and additional sensor suites.
